What to Expect

The Collection is housed in a restored WWII-era hangar. The space is partially climate-controlled — dress comfortably. Photography is welcome. A team member is usually on-site to walk you through the aircraft and share the stories behind them.

Flying In?

The Collection is in Hangar 3 at El Reno Regional Airport, the former Mustang Field.

Before You Come

Operational details for planning your visit.

Parking & Arrival

Free on-site parking is available near Hangar 3. Follow museum signage as you enter Mustang Field. Please enter through the museum entrance, not the hangar doors.

Accessibility

  • Ground-level, single-story entry — no stairs
  • Wide open aisles throughout the hangar
  • Restrooms on site

For specific accessibility needs, email info@thecaldwellcollection.org before your visit.

Weather Policy

We’re open rain or shine. The hangar provides shelter, but flight operations and outdoor viewing are weather-dependent. Check this page before you travel if there’s a storm forecast.

Kids & Families

Children of all ages are welcome. This is an active hangar — the aircraft sit behind ropes to protect them and you, but equipment and work areas are close by, so please keep younger visitors with you at all times.

What to Know Before You Visit

We ask that you please observe the following guidelines when visiting our facility. By entering, you specifically acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with them.

  1. Do not attempt to enter the building through the hangar doors. Persons entering the facility anywhere other than the museum entry will be asked to leave. Please exit the building through the hangar doors on the north end of the hangar.
  2. Absolutely no smoking, vaping, or any other use of tobacco, or imitation tobacco products is permitted in the museum or anywhere on the premises, including the observation area.
  3. No food or drinks may be brought into the museum. Food and drink may be consumed in the observation area on the west side of the museum, but we kindly ask that you use the trash cans to dispose of any items you wish to discard.
  4. Our aircraft are kept clean and ready for viewing, and we ask that you do not touch them or any other items or displays to help us keep them that way. If you damage something, you are responsible for repairing or replacing it.
  5. No running is allowed in the museum or anywhere on the premises.
  6. You may view items in the library in our facility, but we cannot loan them.
  7. The shop areas are closed and off limits to visitors. Please do not disrupt any work activities that may be taking place there during your visit.
  8. Please exercise care when visiting the museum. There are many things projecting from airplanes that could cause injury if you are not careful and run into them. We are absolutely not liable for any injury to persons or property visiting the museum and by entering our facility you specifically acknowledge and accept that you are there at your own risk.
  9. No strollers, chairs or other seating devices may be brought into the museum. Children under the age of six must be accompanied 1:1 by an adult.
  10. No one may sit inside the museum or on the ramp outside as that is an active movement area. Visitors may sit to watch the airshow in the fenced observation area on the west side of the museum.
  11. We may limit entry into the building at any time to ensure the safety of persons or property.
